Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Interlibrary Loan is a service provided for all DOT employees except for FAA who need materials not located in the DOT Library collection. Please see a circulation assistant or reference librarian if you do not see what you need in the online catalog, and they will borrow the item from another library. We can borrow books and reports as well as periodical articles.
Requests can be submitted either in person or by using the ILL Request Form. Returning all borrowed materials in good condition and on time to the DOT Library is the responsibility of each requestor.
The library photocopier may be used for the duplication of work-related materials.
Our experienced library reference staff is available to assist you in locating any information. Reference staff members can help develop and refine searches and search strategies, locate information in our print collections, and access online services such as Lexis/Nexis, Dun & Bradstreet, Westlaw, and Dialog. We can provide complete company reports and full text articles from over 5000 journals, periodicals, and newspapers. Lastly, if by chance, our collections do not contain the information or resource you are seeking, we can access the holdings of over one million libraries through our Inter-Library Loan (ILL) network.
Training the use of various databases and other resources is regularly offered or can be scheduled for all DOT employees except for FAA. Contact library staff to set up a convenient date and time.
New titles are listed in the New Title List which is updated regularly.
Circulation periods vary based on the type of material being checked out. Materials in the reference collection are intended for in-library use. Library staff will be happy to assist you with checking out materials.
For general policies on borrowing materials, see "Borrowing".
The Library routes periodicals to all DOT employees except for FAA upon request. Please contact a library staff member for further information.
